Our Resurgence is an annual Indigenous-taught, intensive research methodology institute for Indigenous researchers. The next program will be in 2020, location and details to be determined.
The Our Resurgence: Indigenous Researcher Summer Institute is designed to foster Indigenous values and practices within a broad array of approaches to academic and institutional research. Indigenous researchers can come from academia, NGOs, government agencies, and other contexts and can be any age.
Through a mix of hands-on learning, talking and reading together, and group working sessions, the institute will cover research methods originating in the social sciences, humanities, and STEM using Indigenous methodological approaches such as: Urban Land-based research, ethnographic refusal, the complexities of Two-Eyed Seeing (holding knowledge from both Western and Indigenous traditions), storytelling, Indigenous statistics, genealogy, navigating racism in the academy, Native American science and technology, Elder review, obligation, intergenerational methods, community-specific Indigenous law, and community participation in research, among others.
